Super Eagles Star Iheanacho Gets Emotional, Declares He's Heartbroken Over Mother's Death

Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho has bemoaned the untimely death of his mother Mercy who died when he was 16 years.

The Nigerian star's mother died after a brief illness in the hospital before the attacker rose to stardom in football.

Iheanacho, 24, led the U17 national team to glory at the FIFA U17 World Cup at the United Arab Emirates in 2013.

After a couple of seasons at the Etihad, he was sold to Leicester City where he has now become one of their important players while also helping them win the FA Cup title for the first time in their history. He was however quoted by Complete Sport saying:

“I’m getting emotional now because… I wish I had my mom here to celebrate with me because she’s one person in my life that, she always stood by me. It breaks my heart when I remember she is no more and she’s not even enjoying all this.”
“Death is unfair. Imagine having the chance to buy her whatever she’d like to have now, take her wherever she’d love to go, yet death took her away."

Legit.ng earlier reported that Kelechi Iheanacho's influence seems to be spreading fast in the United Kingdom as he was interviewed in the Igbo language by a foreign presenter.

The 24-year-old forward felt surprised by the Premier League presenter who greeted him and asked for his name in his traditional language before the show continued.

Iheanacho must have felt outrightly proud at that very moment as he couldn't spill everything in his mouth afterward.
