Victor Ikpeba who played at two World Cup tournaments for Nigeria has taken a dig at Premier League side Chelsea branding the Stamford Bridge landlords as specialists in losing finals.
The 47-year-old made this assertion following Chelsea's defeat against big rivals Leicester City in the final of the FA Cup which was played at the Wembley Stadium.
Leicester City's win over Chelsea at Wembley was their first ever triumph in the FA Cup since the club was created 137 years ago.
The defeat against Leicester City was a painful one for all Chelsea fans as they had hoped that the Blues would beat Kelechi Iheanacho, Ndidi and their teammates.
According to the report on Complete Sports, Victor Ikpeba explained that Chelsea's defeats in the finals is worrisome.
“If I am to follow those statistics, then Chelsea are specialists in losing the finals. They have lost about 8 finals since 2015, it’s massive.”
During his active playing time with the Super Eagles, Victor Ikpeba played 31 games for Nigeria scoring 7 goals.
Known as the Prince of Monaco, Victor Ikpeba was also among the Super Eagles players who won the 1994 African Cup of Nations title.
Ikpeba was also in the Nigerian squad that won gold in football event at the 1996 Olympics games in America.
Meanwhile, Chelsea will be facing Manchester City in the final of the Champions League in which Tuchel and his wards will have another chance.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Daniel Amartey who currently plays for Leicester City in the Premier League could be landing himself in some trouble after being caught throwing Chelsea's pennant on the floor.
This happened after his side defeated the Stamford Bridge landlords in the final of the 2020/21 FA Cup which was played at the Wembley Stadium.
Club pennants are traditionally swapped before a game to mark the occasions while they are kept as souvenirs to remember the event.
Win over Chelsea was an historical one for Leicester City considering the fact that the Foxes have never won the title before in their history.
