Nigerian ex-international Jonathan Akpoborie has decried the Super Eagles recent performances following their double-draws with the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone.
After over 180 minutes of football, three-time African champion Nigeria failed to defeat Sierra Leone in the 2021 AFCON qualifying series.
The Super Eagles saw their four-goal-lead fluffed after the Leone Stars hit four goals back to level 4-4 in the first leg at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin on November 13.
The return leg in Freetown saw both teams play a goalless draw and now Nigeria’s chances of qualifying for the tournament get slimmer.

And reflecting on the qualifiers, Akpoborie wrote, as cited in Complete Sports: ”All the bill boards and all your TV sets have not been telling lies, Rohr has become a liability, he can’t give what he doesn’t have.
“We should not have given him this contract in the first place. The last four games were horrible.
“The alarms came on before they gave him this contract. I already said it by that time. But do they listen? The answer is no they don’t.”
Also, Former Super Eagles striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni has branded the current coach of the Nigerian national football team Gernot Rohr as one of the worst coaches in Nigeria.
Yakubu blasted the tactician saying he is not good enough to manage the Super Eagles and calls for his sack.
He said: “The coach is not good enough, let him go.
“The coach is not good enough, no clue. Gernot Rohr is one of the worst coaches in our history. He is not good enough.”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that the Super Eagles are an attractive team to any coach to manage owing to the rich talents of footballers pulled from all parts of Nigeria.
The West African nation are one of the most successful teams on the continent at all levels, winning the AFCON trophy on three occasions and having the most runners-up medals.
Most of the achievements of the Super Eagles side have come from a foreign coach, but Stephen Keshi is the only indigenous coach that has won a trophy for the nation at senior level.
