Diego Costa cracked a joke with his new strike-partner Luiz Suarez as he suggests they would both form a formidable duo on the pitch.

The aggressive Spanish striker said he would be doing the fighting while the Uruguayan forward will be doing the biting.

Suarez has been involved in three biting incidents in his career but Costa took the lighter side of the incident to tease the newly-signed Atletico Madrid star.

Costa said:

"We are very lucky to have Luis, I don't understand how Barca could have let him leave.
"He is very good, one of us can do the fighting and the other can do the biting.
"He's going to help us with lots of goals as well as his warrior spirit and his hunger to win trophies."

The former Barcelona star made a dream debut in Atletico's 6-1 thrashing of Granada creating an assist and scoring two goals.

Costa was surprised Barcelona let a player of Suarez's quality leave the Camp Nou after Ronald Koeman told him his services are longer needed.

Diego Simeone will be hoping the striking-pair can land them their first La Liga title since 2014 as Costa enters his third spell with the club after joining from Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Luis Suarez scored two beautiful goals on his debut for Atletico Madrid helping Diego Simeone’s men to a 6-1 thrashing of Granada in their match-day 2 of the La Liga.

The former Barcelona player who was declared surplus at Camp Nou joined Atletico on a two-year deal and he wasted no time in hitting the ground running.

Suarez came on as a substitute in the 70th minute replacing Diego Costa with the scoreline at 3-0 in favour of the Rojiblancos.
