6 players of Ghana academy squad die after team bus plunge into river
- The six were part of a contingent of 36 members of the Africa Vision Soccer Academy who were traveling back from a league registration exercise
- The bus they were traveling in reportedly veered off and plunged into a river in Ghana's Ashanti region
- Ghana's football federation has since confirmed the incident, paying an emotional tribute to the victims of the accident

The sporting world was thrown into mourning following the death of six Ghanaian youth players who were involved in a tragic accident.
The Ghana Football Association confirmed the death of the players on Saturday night, September 19, 2020.
The six met their death after a bus they were travelling in plunged into a river in Ghana's Ashanti region. The GFA said in a statement:
"The leadership of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), and the National Juvenile Committee (NJC) have learnt of the passing of six juvenile football players on Saturday, September 18, 2020 at Offinso, near Kumasi in the Ashanti Region."

The federation added:
"The GFA wishes to express our deepest condolences to the family of the six young footballers who passed away after the car they were travelling on submerged."
It is understood that the members of the Africa Vision Soccer Academy were on their way from a league registration for an upcoming competition.
Authorities revealed at least 36 passengers were aboard the ill-fated bus, with survivors said to have been admitted to the hospital.
A Divisional Commander was quoted saying:
“There were 36 passengers onboard. Our investigation revealed that the passengers were made up of football team members who were returning after taking part in a league [registration]."
Those who succumbed are thought to be between the ages of 12 and 16.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Gernot Rohr has invited three new players ahead of Super Eagles friendlies against Cote d'Ivoire and Tunisia on October 9 and 13, 2002 respectively, Complete Sports.
The trio includes CSKA Moscow's Chidera Ejuke, ex-Golden Eaglets captain Samson Tijani and goalkeeper Tobias Lawal.
Tijani who recently signed for Red Bull Salzburg has been loaned out to Austrian side TSV Hartberg while Lawal also plays in Austria with Linz.
