Barcelona manager Ronaldo Koeman could lose his job at the end of the coming season if the club votes in a new president next year.

The 57-year-old was unveiled by the Catalans on Wednesday, August 19, as a replacement for outgoing boss Quique Setién after penning a two year deal with the club.

Barca fired the former Real Betis manager after a disappointing 8-2 Champions League demolition by Bayern Munich last weekend.

Font is one of Josep Bartomeu's oppositions for their upcoming elections and he has vowed to remove the Dutch in favour of the club legend Xavi Hernandez as the new manager.

If I become president, Koeman will not be the coach of Barca in the 2021-22 season,” he told El Larguero. “Xavi understands that all the puzzles in the club must be put together.

Who will lead the team will be decided by the board of directors and in our case, it will be him.”

Speaking to COPE on Wednesday, Font hailed Koeman for his history with the club as a player - before labelling his appointment “a botch job” and declaring that, no matter what happens in 2020-21, he will sack Koeman if elected into power.

"Ronald is a Barcelona legend," Font told COPE.

"We wish him all the success in the world, but it seems like a botch job. "We have been working on this project for several years and you have to work clearly and concisely.

"Even if Koeman won everything - La Liga, the Copa de Rey, the Champions League - we wouldn't choose him."

Koeman was unveiled following confirmation of his appointment on Wednesday, where he spoke on the future of Lionel Messi, amid speculation the Argentine could leave the club.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Barcelona have announced the hiring of 57-year-old Dutchman Ronald Koeman as their new manager taking over from Setien who was recently sacked.
