Odion Ighalo: Manchester United paid £10m to secure Nigerian star's loan extension

Manchester United have prolonged Odion Ighalo's stay at Old Trafford until January 2021, after reaching a consensus with his parent club in China.
The 30-year-old's initial deal expired on May 31, but after negotiations between the two clubs, Shanghai Shenhua granted their player the chance to stay with the Red Devils until next year.
However, that did not happen for free as the Premier League club was said to have coughed out about £10 million to achieve their goal.
This will give the club's manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to properly hunt for a striker of his choice while enjoying the experience of the former Super Eagles forward.
According to SunSport United agreed to pay the Chinese Super League club a sum of £6 million, while they continue to pay about half his £250,000-a-week wages until the expiration of his deal.
The Red Devils boss has been handed enough time with this extension to convince his targets to join the Old Trafford outfit.

Top on the list of the club is Celtic attacker Moussa Dembele and United might use the time on their hands to seal his deal.
Ighalo, who was expected back in China this month before Shanghai Shenhua made a u-turn would be expected to continue his superb form where he stopped in March.
He had scored four goals and one assist in nine appearances across competitions before deadly coronavirus became a pandemic and ravaged the world.

Meanwhile, with no date for the restart of the Chinese Super League, Ighalo's parent club may have made the right choice allowing him to stay back in England.
As they might be forced to be paying him about £1 million a month despite not playing any competition in the Asian continent.
