Gernot Rohr claims Yobo has not spoken to him since his appointment

Gernot Rohr has raised concerns over his relationship with newly-appointed Super Eagles assistant coach Joseph Yobo, cited Complete Sports quoting BBC.

The German tactician claims he has spoken with to the former Nigerian international since he took over the job from Imama Amapakabo.

Rohr said he hopes to meet the former Everton defender when he returns to the country ahead of the 2021 AFCON qualifiers against Sierra Leone.

“Yobo has not called me. I don’t have his number. I expect to meet him when I return to Nigeria next week, to prepare for the AFCON 2021 qualifier against Sierra Leone. When I meet him, I will give him traditional missions normally assigned to an assistant coach,” Complete Sports quoting BBC reporter Osasu Obayiuwana.

Rohr was asked about what he thought when the Nigeria Football Association (NFF) appointed Yobo as his new assistant.

“You can say it. But I cannot. Under the terms of my contract, the NFF have the right to do what they have done (replace his assistant coach at sudden notice).”

The 66-year-old has been having issues with his contract renewal revealed that he had plans to meet NFF President Amaju Pinnick.

“I will meet with Amaju Pinnick next week, before our camping and we shall see. Meanwhile, I will keep doing my job.”

He also spoke about the delay in his contract renewal with just three-and-half-month: “We hope that things will be better in the future.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Minister Youth and Sports Development Sunday Dare has taken it upon himself to sponsor two young boxers and a swimmer.
