Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: Man United chiefs back Norwegian to continue as manager

- Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has guided Manchester United to the club's worst points tally in three decades

- United have lost 12 top flight matches since Solskjaer taking over as manager on permanent basis more than the games he has won

- There has been mounting pressure from fans on the club to sack the Norwegian as manager of the club

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will not be sacked as Man United manager despite the club's 2-0 humbling defeat by Burnley on Wednesday night, January 22.

Goals by Chris Wood and Jay Rodriguez in either half of the clash played at Old Trafford condemned United to a comprehensive defeat to deny them a chance of narrowing the gap between them and fourth-placed Chelsea.

The defeat leaves the Red Devils glued in fifth on the league chart, but face the danger of dropping down after failing to record convincing results in two of their last matches.

Despite the apparent dip in form, MailSport reports United board is backing Solskjaer to steady the ship and will not get rid of him despite mounting pressure from a section of fans.

Currently, the Norwegian boss is the bookmakers' favourite to be shown the door in the Premier League.

Speaking after the Burnley bashing, the former Cardiff tactician admitted United's performance against the Clarets was below par, promising to turn around the club's fortunes.

"I can understand supporters are disappointed when times are tough," MailSport quoted Solskjaer.

"But for us we've just got to stick to our values, stick to our beliefs and knowing that there's no use feeling sorry for yourself. We just need to make sure that we try to help the players and the team. The players hear the fans," he continued.

Jude Bellingham has become a surprise target for Premier League giants Manchester United to help solve the club's striking problems, reports in England claim.
