France defender Samuel Umtiti has laughed off his embarrassing handball in against Australia by posting a photo shopped image of the incident on his social media account.

After Les Bleus had taken the lead, the defender inexplicably used his arm to bat away an Australia cross from inside his own area four minutes later.

A penalty was awarded who Mile Jedinak fired home to draw the Aussie level before Paul Pogba scored a late winner to spare the Barcelona defender's blushes.

And after the game the 24-year-old posted a photo of his handball mocked up with a basketball net as if he was performing a slam dunk accompanied by a series of emojis.

Didier Dechamps men had taken the lead with a penalty of their own, awarded through the video assistant referee (VAR) after the officials had initially not given the spot-kick.
