According to the document, dated November 19, 2020, and allegedly titled “IN THE MATTER OF BREACH OF PROMISE OF MARRIAGE, POISONING, FOETICIDE, INDUCING LOSS OF AMENITIES, ASSAULT, CAUSING FINANCIAL LOSS AND INDEBTEDNESS TO MS. NATASHA AKPOTI”, Akpoti-Uduaghan’s legal team sought compensation for a range of claims, including alleged financial losses and personal harm.

The document, reportedly signed by Chief B.C. Igwilo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) of Indemnity Chambers, accused Chief Uduaghan of failing to fulfill a marriage promise and causing financial setbacks.

The document claims that during their relationship, Akpoti-Uduaghan allegedly played a role in helping Uduaghan secure a gas asset worth $105 million. It further states that she had allegedly loaned him N400 million, of which N200 million remains unpaid.

Part of the document reads:

"You demonstrated the assurance of marriage by parading her before the world and notable personalities as your wife. Corroborative evidence of this abound. In reciprocation, our Client dutifully became subservient to you in anticipation of marriage. With a law degree and MBA under her belt, she also became your financial and business adviser and was particularly instrumental in your successful acquisition of a gas asset worth about $105,000,000.00 (One Hundred and Five Million US Dollars), a hotel, and other investments."

It further alleges that Chief Uduaghan's actions led to Akpoti-Uduaghan experiencing financial losses and reputational damage. The document also reportedly states that she was demanding N10 billion as compensation for consultancy services, financial losses, and other alleged damages.

Additionally, the document mentions an NDDC and SMEDAN contract worth N7 billion related to the establishment of a technology development and business growth hub in Akwa Ibom. Akpoti-Uduaghan was said to have secured this contract when the current Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, was Minister of Niger Delta Affairs between 2019 and 2022.

Notably, in 2023, Akpoti-Uduaghan publicly accused Akpabio of sexual harassment, an allegation he denied. This claim surfaced following her removal as Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Local Content. Her subsequent re-assignment to a different seat in the Senate Chamber reportedly led to further disputes, with the senator alleging that her rights had been violated.

Following internal reforms in the Senate and a series of reported disputes, Akpoti-Uduaghan was eventually suspended for six months due to alleged unparliamentary conduct.
