The Supreme Court has dismissed the verdict of the Court of Appeal that sacked Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano state.
Justice John Okoro-led five-member panel of the apex court faulted the decision of the appellate court to deduct 165,616 votes from the votes of the governor in the March 18 governorship election, TVC supported.

The respondent claimed that the 165,616 ballot papers were not from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and that the allegation was not proven.
The Supreme Court cited section 63(1) of the Electoral Act, which stated that before a ballot paper can be declared invalid, it must be proven that it was not given to the presiding officer.
It them maintained that the ballot papers in question were signed and stamped and that the only feature that was missing was the date.
The court then ruled that the 165,616 should be added to the votes of Governor Yusuf in the election.
