Illinois, US - President Bola Tinubu's diploma certificate submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been confirmed valid by the Chicago State University (CSU).
According to The Nation, the Chicago State University confirmed that the certificate and the one President Tinubu presented to during his graduation from the institution in 1979 was valid.
Why differences existed on Tinubu's certificate
In the affidavit, the institution told a court in Chicago:
”Chicago State University provided a Diploma to Bola Ahmed Tinubu and subsequently provided a certified copy of that Diploma. Both are valid and authentic Diplomas of the Chicago State University.”
According to the affidavit, certain differences existed between the diploma and certified copy. This was because the current President/Board Chairman signs all diplomas.
It also explained that the font and seal on the diploma have differences because the institution updated its seal and font after it issued its diploma.
Chicago State University blames human error on date differences on Tinubu diploma
Also, on the differences between the diploma and the certified copy, the institution said such is likely because of human error. It explained that the graduation date was typed by a person manually, and it is prone to be inaccurate.
The university was compelled to make available the academic record of President Tinubu to his political opponent, Atiku Abubakar, the flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 presidential election.
"Better ways to unseat Bola Tinubu": Omokri tells Atiku on certificate digging
Legit.ng earlier reported that a PDP Chieftain, Reno Omokri, has urged critics of President Bola Tinubu to desist from digging into his academic records.
The former presidential aide noted that there are many ways to unseat the President than trying to find errors in his academic records.
According to Omokri, Atiku Abubakar of the PDP would be a better president than Tinubu, but that does not mean that Tinubu did not finish at Chicago State University.
