FCT, Abuja - President Bola Tinubu returned from Guinea Bissau to the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja on Monday, July 10.
The President returned to Nigeria as the chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) after attending the 63rd Ordinary Session of Authority of Heads.

While in Guinea Bissau, President Tinubu was unanimously selected to lead the regional body by the heads of state and governments at the event.

During the meeting, President Tinubu raised the alarm about an increase in terrorist activities as well as constant threats to lives and property.
The President worried about the constant takeover in the West African regions, which truncated democratic governance.
He then called for collective action among member-states and pleaded, adding that his leadership would push ECOWAS members to achieve the goal set and fulfil the dreams of its founding fathers.
What President Tinubu says after becoming ECOWAS President
Tinubu urged ECOWAS leaders to unite and share values of peace, democracy and economic prosperity in the region for a brighter future.
The President of Nigeria declared that he would prioritise stability, security, peace, strengthening of the ECOWAS institutions and regional economic integration.
The event was held at the Republic of Guinea-Bissau.
President Tinubu, in his remark, said:
“We will take democracy seriously. Democracy is very tough, but it is the best form of government.”

House of Representatives: Tinubu seeks security chiefs’ confirmation
Legit.ng earlier reported that President Bola Tinubu has forwarded the names of service chiefs to the House of Representatives for confirmation.
According to the letter, President Tinubu urged the lawmakers to fast-track the confirmation of the appointment of the service chiefs.
The development is coming when the Arewa Consultative Forum calls on the president to negotiate with the bandits terrorising the northwest.
