Supplementary Governorship Elections in Adamawa, Kebbi States: Live Updates

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will conduct supplementary governorship elections today, Saturday, April 15, in Adamawa and Kebbi states. This follows the declaration of the March 18 governorship polls in the states as inconclusive.

Also, the electoral commission will conduct supplementary polls for 94 legislative seats in federal and state parliaments.

Suspected ballot snatcher shot dead in Kebbi

A man suspected of attempting to cart away a ballot box at Bajida polling unit 001, Fakai Local Government Area of Kebbi South, during the ongoing supplementary elections in the state, has been shot and killed by soldiers on patrol.

The unidentified man intruded into the polling unit, claiming to be a security agent, and tried to steal a gun from a soldier when he was shot.

Updates from the election in Imo state

At PU018, Ezinihitte Mbieri, Mbaitoli LGA, suspected thugs have reportedly carted away the results of the polling unit.

Voting yet to commence in 14 Polling Units in Numan LGA, Adamawa state

Voting is yet to commence in the affected 14 polling units in the Numan Local Government Area of Adamawa state, according to Channels TV.

At 11:47am, in the Bolki Ward where there are 13 polling units, INEC officers were seen sorting out electoral materials for onward distribution to the Polling Units.

Legit.ng gathers that during the March 18 governorship and state assembly elections, election did not hold in Bolki because of the same challenge of the late arrival of INEC officials and materials.

Voting ongoing in Adamawa with a worrying silence from Kebbi state

PU018, Sangere, Namtari, Yola south LGA, Adamawa.

Accreditation and voting are underway in this polling unit but the process is reportedly disorganised.

Meanwhile, no credible report is coming from Kebbi state where a supplementary governorship election is also expected to take place today.

Election materials were yet to arrive at the polling unit as of 10:20am.

Around 08:30am, INEC officials explained the voting process and openly displayed the empty ballot boxes. Voting commenced afterwards.

However, a convoy of a particular political party arrived and forced all other party agents out of the polling unit, according to Situation Room.

"Nobody resisted them and the security agents tried to be as civil as possible."

Voting turns violent in Adamawa

A young lady was stabbed at PU006, Kofar Jauro Audu, Jambutu, Yola North LGA in Adamawa. Her attackers seized her phone. The cause of the incident is yet to be known.

Similarly, a yet-to-be-identified man has reportedly been stabbed at another polling unit in Yola North for 'having money in his pocket'.

A party agent, according to TheCable, causes a stir as he attempts to help an elderly woman cast her vote.

Meanwhile, voting is also now ongoing at PU006, Kofar Jauro Audu, Jambutu, Yola North LGA, Adamawa state.

Governor of Adamawa state and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

  • Aisha Dahiru

Senator and governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa state.

  • Nasiru Idris

APC governorship candidate in Kebbi state, who had been leading before the election was declared inconclusive.

  • General Aminu Bande

PDP governorship candidate in Kebbi state. The supplementary election is expected to be closely contested between Bande and Idris.
