10th Assembly: Crisis Looms in APC As Ward Expels Prominent Northern Senator, Gives Reason

The All Progressive Congress (APC) chieftain, Senator Bulus Amos of the Gombe South Federal Constituency, has been expelled by his ward executive in Bambam Ward of the Balanga local government area.

As reported by the Punch newspaper, Senator Amos' expulsion was announced by Muhammad Kaka, the ward chairman of Bambam.

According to Kaka, the embattled lawmaker is being suspended due to alleged anti-party activities noting that a five-man committee has been constituted to probe him.

Senator Amos' aide denies anti-party allegations

Meanwhile, Senator Amos' aide Manasseh Felix has vehemently denied the anti-party allegations levelled against his principal by the party.

He stated that Senator Amos has been instrumental to the success of the Gombe state chapter of the APC in the just concluded 2023 general election.

As reported by The Sun newspaper, the state publicity secretary of the party, Moses Kyari, who confirmed the development, said the expulsion of Senator Amos became necessary due to a petition brought before the ward.

He further confirmed that the situation forced the ward to constitute a five-man committee to commence the investigation earnestly.

It was gathered that Senator Amos was invited for questioning and could not exonerate himself from the allegations against him as contained in the petition.

Kyari said:

“The committee invited the Senator who could not defend himself from the allegations hence, the committee recommended his suspension and eventual expulsion from the party. The order of suspension takes effect from today Saturday, April 8 2023.”

APC Expels First-Time Senator-Elect, Gives 3 Prominent Reasons

Similarly, the Taraba state chapter of the APC has expelled a first-time senator-elect, David Jimkuta, representing Taraba's south senatorial district.

Jimkuta was expelled by the Takum local government chapter of the party in the state over 3 allegations bordering on extreme anti-party activities.

In a letter of expulsion, Jimkuta was expelled after the report of the disciplinary committee set up to investigate him was thoroughly scrutinized.
