BREAKING: Adeleke Reacts as Tribunal Sacked Him as Osun Governor, Reveals Next Action

Osogbo, Osun state - Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun state has rejected the tribunal ruling which sacked him, describing it as “a m*iscarriage of justice”.

The Osun state governor vowed to challenge the ruling at the Court of Appeal.

The Election Petitions Tribunal hearing the petition filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s Adegboyega Oyetola against the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s Adeleke annulled the result of the July 16 Osun governorship poll on Friday, January 27.

The judgement is unfair, says Governor Adeleke

Reacting to the verdict of the tribunal from his country home in Ede, Adeleke faulted the resolution of the over-voting question in favour of Oyetola.

He tagged the ruling “an unfair interpretation against the will of majority of voters”.

Remain calm, Adeleke urges supporters

Nevertheless, the sacked governor urged his supporters to remain calm.

He vowed to appeal the judgement at the Court of Appeal, insisting he remained the rightful winner of the July 16 election.

“I call on our people to remain calm. We will appeal the judgement and we are sure justice will be done. Let our people be reassured that we will do everything possible to retain this widely acclaimed mandate,” the governor said in a statement signed by his spokesman, Olawale Rasheed, on Friday.

Why Tribunal sacked Adeleke, declared Oyetola as Osun state governor

Legit.ng earlier reported that the tribunal held that the governorship election was characterized by over-voting.

It said after deducting the excessive votes, the figure Oyetola polled at the election was 314, 921 while that of Adeleke came down to 290, 266.
