Jalingo, Taraba state - Senator Emmanuel Bwacha of the All Progressives Congress (APC) lost his legislative seat on Thursday, November 10.
This came as the Federal High Cout in Jalingo, Taraba state capital, sacked Senator Bwacha following his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, Leadership reports.
Delivering the verdict on Thursday, the presiding judge, Justice Simon Amobeda ordered the lawmaker to vacate his seat immediately
Before the order, the state's chapter of the PDP had approached the court to declare Bwacha's seat vacant for dumping the party on which he was elected as a federal lawmaker to represent Taraba South at the National Assembly.

Senate deputy minority leader Bwacha defects to APC
Senator Emmanuel Bwacha who represents Taraba South and is also the Senate deputy minority leader, on Thursday, February 3, defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Bwacha was formally received into the ruling APC by President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House on Thursday.
The Taraba federal lawmaker was led to the Presidential Villa by the chairman of the ruling party's interim committee, Governor Mai Mala Buni.

In a ruling delivered on Tuesday, September 20, the court sitting in Jalingo presided over by Justice Simon Amobeda nullified Bwacha's election victory.
Justice Amobeda also directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct another governorship primary in the state in not more than two weeks.
