FCT, Abuja - The Supreme Court has affirmed the nomination of Sherrif Oborevwori as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta state.
A five-member panel of the apex court led by Amina Augie delivered the judgment on Friday, October 21.
The panel upheld the decision of the Abuja Court of Appeal, TheCable reported.

Edevbie served as the commissioner for finance during the James Ibori administration.
While Oborevwori is the preferred candidate of Ifeanyi Okowa, Delta governor, James Ibori, a former governor, is said to be backing Edevbie.
Edevbie had claimed that the academic credentials that Oborevwori submitted to his party, the PDP, were forged.
The apex court, however, held that the suit was premature because it was filed before Oborevwori’s personal particulars, including academic credentials, were submitted to INEC as required under Section 29 of the Electoral Act 2022, The Nation also reported.
Appeal court gives verdict on Oborevwori's sack as Delta PDP governorship candidate
Recall that Legit.ng earlier reported that the Court of Appeal in Abuja on Monday, August 29, reversed the July 7, 2022 judgment of the Federal High Court, Abuja which sacked Oborevwori as the Delta state's governorship candidate of the PDP in the 2023 elections.
A three-member panel of the appellate court, led by Justice Peter Ige, held that the Federal High Court lacked the jurisdiction to have entertained the suit filed by David Edevbie on the grounds that the cause of action had not crystallised as of when the suit was filed.
The appellate court further held that Edevbie failed to prove his claim that Oborevwori supplied false and forged academic credentials and other documents to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in aid of his qualification for the governorship election.
