"This principle is enshrined in the APC Constitution, specifically in Article 20(IV)(e), which mandates the equitable rotation of political offices to ensure fairness."
"The late leader of Ndigbo, Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu, championed the idea of zoning in Anambra State in 2010, advocating for power to be rotated to Anambra North.
"This initiative has since been embraced by major political parties, contributing to the state's political stability."
Given the upcoming election, Amaefuna argued that failing to field a strong candidate from Anambra South would jeopardize the party's chances of winning.
He warned that opposing zoning principles could undermine the party's integrity, especially when similar principles are championed at the federal level.
He urged the APC to unify behind a candidate from Anambra South to maximize their chances in the 2025 governorship election.
The APC stalwart also stressed the need for the party to avoid internal sabotage and ensure that all members support the zoning principle to secure a victory in Anambra State.
