Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won 17 of the 30 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the Osun State governorship election.

Incumbent Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC), however, won in the remaining 13 LGAs.

Adeleke makes first statement after defeating Oyetola in Osun governorship election

Meanwhile, Senator Ademola Adeleke, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has reacted to his victory in the 2022 governorship election in Osun state.

Shortly after he was announced as the winner of the poll by INEC, Adeleke took to his verified Twitter page to send a message to his followers and other Nigerians on the social media platform.

"I have brought light to Osun State," he tweeted.

Meanwhile, the governor-elect of Osun state, Adeleke, prostrated for his elder brother, Adedeji Adeleke the moment he was announced the winner of the governorship election.

The family and their friends, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors, Bukola Saraki and others had gathered to watch the announcement of the results on Sunday, July 17.

While singer Davido broke down in tears, his uncle and winner prostrated for the older Adeleke in gratitude.

In another report, the governor of Osun state, Adegboyega Oyetola, has urged his supporters to be calm following the emergence of the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senator Ademola Adeleke as governor-elect.

Oyetola said he has taken cognisance of the results of the governorship election announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday.
