Peter Obi Sends Important Message to His Supporters Over Their Attitude

Following their mob action on social media, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has sent an important message to his supporters.

The former Anambra state governor charged them to be tolerant of dissenting views and divergent opinions, Daily Trust reports.

Recall that Obi supporters attack those whom they perceived to be critical of the presidential Candidate. An example of this attack was when Pastor Poju Oyemade of the Covenant Christian Centre was “bullied” to pull down a tweet said to be against Obi.

In a tweet on Sunday, June 3, Obi appealed to his supporters to learn from views different from theirs.

He tweeted:

“I sincerely thank my supporters for believing in me and my commitment to building a united, secure and well-functioning Nigeria. However, I appeal once more that we should be tolerant of other people’s views, dissent and divergent opinions & possibly learn from them.”
“While the frustration and anger in the country (are) understandable, we must strive to channel that energy positively in ways that will earn the support and collaboration of others.
“Even as our message continues to gain broad acceptance, there are some we still need to work to convince. In expressing ourselves, we should do so with grace so as not to precipitately shut doors to future collaborations on sustainable nation-building. -PO."

Speaking with journalists on Saturday, July 2, in Gombe, the former Kano governor confirmed that his party had been in talks with the LP for a possible merger.

He stated:

"From the discussion with Labour Party, the main issue was who becomes the president if the parties merge."

According to him, if Obi accepts an offer to be his running mate, it would provide a viable route for the southeast to actualize its presidential ambition in the future.
