According to time, Amaechi and Ngige should have resigned from office in accordance with Section 84 of the new Electoral Act.

Speaking in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja on Tuesday, April 19, Olawepo Hashim, further accused the duo of ethical failure.

He added that Nigeria needs a government of national unity and stimulation of devolution of power.

He stated that at this point in the nation’s history, nobody can be a superstar, saying all interests have to be aggregated into one.

His words:

“We need to include everyone, not to exclude anybody. The country is really divided along ethnic and religious lines, it is very difficult for any party to even produce a candidate right now that can win in more than four zones out of the six zones of the country because of the division in the country.”

2023: Olawepo-Hashim advises Nigerians on who to choose as next president

Recall that Olawepo-Hashim had earlier stated that Nigerians cannot afford to choose the next president from amongst those who have made a career of living on government since 1999, and expect positive changes in their lives and in the country.

Olawepo-Hashim made the disclosure in a chat with journalists in Lagos state on Wednesday, April 13.

According to him, some of those who have stayed too long in government have become part of the corrupt system, adding that it is an illusion to expect corruption to fight corruption.

2023: Old generation should step aside, says Ex-President Obasanjo

Similarly, former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Monday, February 21 called on the old generation of Nigerians to give way to the younger breeds in the building of a prosperous Nigeria.

According to him, rather than competition, the old generation should collaborate with the younger ones and provide them with the requisite knowledge and experience to transform the country for the better.

He made the comment while speaking virtually at the 2022 annual lecture of the Murtala Muhammed Foundation with the theme, ‘Beyond Boko Haram: Addressing insurgency, banditry, and kidnapping across Nigeria’.
