Tragedy Hits Again As 100-Level Taraba Varsity Student Dies in Hostel Fire
- Students of Taraba State University were thrown into mourning over the passing of one of their colleagues
- The student passed after she was trapped in an inferno that razed one of the institution's hostels on Friday, December 10
- The body of the student has since been deposited in the morgue after doctors at a specialist hospital in Jalingo confirmed her dead
Enuseh Lawi, a 100-level student of the Taraba State University has reportedly died in a fire outbreak in one of the institution's hostel, the Cable reports.
Lawi was said to have been trapped in the fire that started in some parts of Zenith Hostel of the institution on Friday, December 10.
The report said that Lawi was fast asleep when the fire broke out and gutted the hostel where she lived until the unfortunate incident.
It was gathered that Lawi slept off after she returned from where she went to read all through the night for her examination.

Channels Television also reports that other students of the institution managed to break into the room where Lawi was sleeping long after the fire started.
The student was rushed to the Specialist Hospital Jalingo where she was confirmed dead by doctors.
A witness said:
”When she was brought out of the hostel, she was totally unconscious and could barely stand before the school security men came to pick her up with a Toyota Hilux and she was rushed to the hospital.”
According to some sources, the fire affected some parts of the Zenith Hostel, damaging property and many other valuables.
The sources said that it took the efforts of other female students and some security operatives in the school to bring the fire under control.
One of the sources said:
“The cause of this fire is from an electrical socket which sparked repeatedly and suddenly gutted the mattress next to it from which it spread all over."
Taraba governor speaks on criminal attacks in the state
The governor of Taraba state has said that he is helpless over the growing attacks by some Cameroonian separatists in his state.
Governor Darius Ishaku said he has no control over the security activities and actions taken by police and other operatives in Taraba state.
Ishaku also said that his colleagues in other states of the country are also helpless over the security situation in the jurisdiction
Suspected kidnappers found dead after allegedly fighting over ransom
The fight over sharing of ransom has reportedly led to the death of three suspected kidnappers in Taraba state.
A resident said the corpses of the suspected kidnappers shortly after their fight at the foot of a mountain in Ardo Kola local government area.
However, the state police command said the development has not been officially reported by the residents.
