Presidency 2023: New Twist as Prominent Yoruba Group Declares Support for Former Southeast Governor

Lagos, Nigeria - A pan-Yoruba group under the aegis of Oduduwa Sons and Daughters for Equity and Justice has endorsed the former governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha as the next president of Nigeria.

Daily Trust reported that the group claimed Yoruba people have decided to support a southeasterner to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

Legit.ng gathered the coordinator of the group, Prince Ebunola Martins, stated at a town hall meeting in Lagos on Monday, November 29, that the Yorubas reached a consensus that the next president should come from the southeast.

He said in the interest of justice, fairness and equity, as well as the spirit of oneness, the Igbos should be given the opportunity to produce the next president.

His words:

“Rochas Okorocha is the only presidential aspirant the Yorubas trust. The southwest trusts Rochas Okorocha because he will not divide this country.”

He noted that the former Imo governor built Rochas Foundation College for the children of the poor, providing free education to the less privileged in the north with schools in Yola, Bauchi, Kano, Sokoto, Zaria, Jos and many cities in Nigeria.

In another related development, a prominent Nollywood actor, Mr. Ibu (John Ikechukwu Okafor) has debunked rumours that he is has thrown his weight behind the 2023 presidential of the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ahmed Tinubu.

In an Instagram video, Mr. Ibu said he was at the gathering for the endorsement of Tinubu's presidential bid only on invitation by some of his colleagues who needed his assistance.
