APGA Finally Opens Up On Planned Defection of Obiano, Soludo to APC

  • There are no plans for the rumoured defection of Willie Obiano and Charles Soludo to APC, the All Progressives Grand Alliance has said
  • The reaction from APGA follows reports that the duo plan to leave the party to the All Progressives Congress after their meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari

Awka - Following rumours of planned defection Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state and the new governor-elect, Chukwuma Soludo, the ruling party in the state has come out to clarify issues.

The national coordinator of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Media Warriors Forum, Chinedu Obigwe said the two heavyweights in the state are not leaving the party.

Punch reports that Obigwe while speaking at a press briefing in Awka, Anambra capital city said the rumours are lies from the pit of hell.

He said the party is coming out boldly to state the incumbent governor throughout the election period battled for the survival of APGA which he described as the only Igbo party in Nigeria.

Obigwe said:

“There was never a time Governor Obiano promised anybody that if Soludo wins the election, both of them will join APC."
“Governor Obiano nurtured a good relationship with President Buhari administration for the betterment of Ndi Anambra. The President respects the fact that Obiano is the leader of APGA and accords him that respect."

Also, Daily Independent reports that Obigwe said the governor could not have done all he did before, during and after the election considering the victory God has given to APGA only for him to defect to APC.

He added that as widely circulated, President Buhari never lobbied for Obiano or Soludo to join the APC because he knows the duo would never abandon APGA.

He also noted that President Buhari had, however, promised the Anambra state governor that the election would be free and fair without interference from the federal government.

Aguata kinsmen warn Andy Uba over legal action against Soludo

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Andy Uba's kinsmen have warned him against taking legal action over the outcome of the November 6 Anambra governorship election.

Uba's kinsmen under the umbrella of Nzukora Old Aguata Union said the governor-elect of the state should not be distracted.

The warning from Uba's kinsmen comes a few days after the APC governorship candidate threatened legal action against the declaration of Solution as Anambra's governor-elect by INEC.

Uba accuses APGA of demonising his person

Also, Uba had accused the leadership and members of APGA of demonising him over his plan to take legal action against the result of the November 6 governorship election in Anambra.

Uba said the party was out to make him look like an evil-minded person for seeking civil ways to reclaim his mandate.

He further called on the party members to prepare for a legal battle rather than using the approach of making him appear evil in the minds of the people of Anambra.
