2023 Presidency: Bishops, Imams Endorse Okorocha Ahead of Polls

Abuja - As most politicians are preparing ahead of the forthcoming 2023 presidency elections, a former governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha, has received the support of clerics in Nigeria.
The Sun reports that the endorsement of the former governor and serving lawmaker in the Ninth Senate comes from the College of Bishops, Council of Imams and the Council of Nigeria Bishops in partnership with the Leaders Alliance Network.
Speaking during a prayer session in Abuja, the president of the group, Archbishop Joe Wealth and Paul John called on President Buhari to hand over the presidency to Okorocha as a parting gift.
Great support for Rochas Okorocha from the religious circle
According to the group, Okorocha is the right presidential choice for the forthcoming general election in 2023.

The clerics said Okorocha since assuming leadership in Imo state at different capacity has shown that he is the epitome of equity, peace, justice and fair play.
Also, Guardian reports that the clerics affirmed that Nigeria and her people have gained immensely from Okorocha's philanthropism.
The group also said its members and leadership are convinced that the former governor would hit the ground running once he emerges as president.
They said:
"I want to thank you most sincerely for finding Senator Okorocha worthy of this endorsement, I want to assure you, people, here today that Rochas is a man of his words and his love for northerners can not be qualified with any other, you will never be disappointed by giving him your total support."
APC crisis and congress in Imo state
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported at Senator Okorocha has said that the APC cannot conduct its congress in Imo state.
Okorocha and a former governor of Imo state Ifeanyi Ararume had boycotted the Imo state congress of the APC over a crisis brewing with the party.
He said there cannot be a congress as there is a substantive judgement of the Appeal Court yet to be made on the state party's executives.
Jumbo pay for lawmakers not enough for effective work
In other news, the former governor said that N13 million as monthly pay for lawmakers of the Red Chambers is not enough.
The senator said every lawmaker should be well paid to enable them to carry out their duties effectively.
He said Nigeria should have one senator per state as against three being produced by every state of the federation.
