Abuja - With the growing agitation by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) for the secession of Biafra from Nigeria, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo has revealed what could bring lasting peace across the country.
Leadership reports that the national president for Ohanaeze Youth Worldwide, Damian Okafor, said the emergence of an Igbo president would end the IPOB agitation.
Okafor said having an Igbo president would, among other things, bring lasting peace to the southeast region and Nigeria as a whole.
Like Oduduwa, Obasanjo's presidency; like Biafra, Igbo presidency
He further made an example with the Oduduwa agitation which was ended by the Olusegun Obasanjo's presidency and the Yar'adua administration that was intended to bring an end to Boko Haram insurgency.

The Ohanaeze youth leader said the same treatment is to be given to the southeast region over the agitation of Biafra by the IPOB led by Nnamdi Kanu.
Okafor said:
“Igbos should be treated in like manner the way other regions were treated. We deserve the position of the president and it will be fair and bring to an end the agitation."
Punch also reports that the factional secretary-general of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Okechukwu Isiguzuro, has said that the Igbo presidency is possible.
Isiguzoro said any attempt to stall the project of the country having an Igbo president is evil and mischievously wicked.

Trial of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, by the court
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the lawyers representing the IPOB leader had staged a walk-out from the courtroom on Wednesday, November 10.
The lawyers took the action in protest after most of their colleagues were locked out of the courtroom by security operatives guarding the court.
With this outcome, the court presided by Justice Binta Nyako asked Kanu if he could represent himself on the matter.
To this, the IPOB leader responded in the negative leading the court to adjourn his trial to Wednesday, January 19, 2022.
Restructuring is inevitable for Nigeria as a country
In other news, the Afenifere group led by Chief Ayo Adebanjo had said that they would prevail on President Muhammadu Buhari to restructure Nigeria.
Adebanjo said the president reneged on the agreement with the people to ensure the restructuring of Nigeria before he assumed office in 2015.
He also said that what every Nigerian need is a country where equity and social justice reigns rather than marginalisation of a selected region or group.
