INEC Presents Certificate of Return to Charles Soludo Days after Winning Anambra Governorship Election

  • Days after his victory as the November 6 governorship poll in Anambra, INEC has presented a Certificate of Return to the governor-elect, Charles Soludo
  • The governorship candidate of Anambra's ruling party, APGA, defeated his rivals from the APC and the PDP in the election
  • After receiving the certificate, Soludo promised to work for the good of the Anambra public and humanity at large

Awka, Anambra state - The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has presented a Certificate of Return to Professor Chukwuma Soludo, the winner of the just concluded Anambra state governorship election.

Soludo, the candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), was declared winner of the November 6 election by INEC.

The presentation was done in Awka, the state capital today, Friday, November 12.

Shortly after receiving the certificate, Soludo took to Facebook to thank the people of Anambra for their support.

He wrote:

"I have just received my certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
"Thank you Ndị Anambra for the overwhelming support. This divine mandate shall be deployed for the good of the Anambra public and humanity at large.
"Who can battle with the Lord?"

Soludo becomes second ex-CBN governor to emerge state governor

Meanwhile, Professor Soludo is the second ex-Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor to emerge as a state governor in the country.

The first was Clement Isong, former governor of Cross River state. Isong was CBN governor from 1967 to 1975. He later became the Cross River governor from 1979 to 1983.

Interestingly, it was Soludo who honoured Clement Isong by placing his portrait on the Nigerian N1000 note. Also, Soludo has a Ph.D. in Economics just like Isong did.

Seven governorship aspirants have reportedly indicated interest to join the Imo state chapter of APGA to wrestle power from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2023.

The move by the unnamed politicians was linked to the victory of APGA in the Anambra governorship election won by Professor Soludo.

Three of the seven governorship aspirants are from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while four are from the APC.
