Anambra Election: INEC Announces Date to Present Certificate of Return to Soludo

  • The Independent National Electoral Commission will issue a certificate of return to the governor-elect on Anambra state, Charles Soludo
  • Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, the deputy governor-elect of the southeat state is set to also receive his return certificate from INEC
  • Festus Okoye, chairman, information and voter education committee made the announcement on Thursday, November 11

Anambra state governor-elect Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo and his deputy governor-elect, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim will be presented with Certificates of Return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Legit.ng gathered that the electoral umpire is expected to give Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance the certificate at the commission’s office in Awka, the state capital.

This was made known by Festus Okoye, the national commissioner and chairman, information and voter education committee on Thursday, November 11.

In a statement shared on INEC's official Facebook page, Okoye said the presentation was following the conclusion of the election and as provided for in Section 75 of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended).

He, however, revealed that the commission has conducted an initial review of the Anambra Governorship election and will release a report soon.

Anambra decides 2021: INEC declares APGA's Charles Soludo as winner

Recall that Soludo, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) was declared the winner of the November 6 Anambra governorship election.

Professor Florence Obi, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)'s returning officer for the election, on Wednesday, November 10, declared Soludo who polled 112,229 votes as the winner.

The APGA candidate was trailed by Valentine Ozigbo, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who polled 53,807.

Legit.ng previously reported that the Anambra governor-elect on Wednesday, November 10, made an outstanding speech on his victory in the just-concluded gubernatorial election.

Soludo expressed gratitude to the Almighty God and the people of the state for their immense support in the entire process.

He also hailed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its conduct of the election which, in his words, "has been adjudged as the most peaceful, free, fair and credible."
