Anambra Election: Buhari Reacts Hours After INEC Declared Soludo Winner
- President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, November 10, congratulated the newly elected governor of Anambra state Chukwuma Soludo
- The president urged Professor Soludo to work towards ending the insecurity in Anambra and the southeast region
- Nigeria's number one man also commended the efforts of the security operatives and the country's electoral body in the conduct of the election
Barely 24 hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Chukwuma Soludo, governor-elect of the November 6, Anambra election, President Muhammadu has reacted.
The president in a post on his official Facebook page congratulated Soludo on his victorious outing at the just concluded election.
Soludo, who contested for the number one seat in Anambra under the All Progressives Grand Alliance party is also a member of the Presidential Economic Advisory Committee (PEAC).
Commendations for security agencies and INEC
The president in his statement commended the security operatives and their agencies whom he said that despite the challenges encountered at the poll, showcased determination and professionalism in carrying out their duties.

He also commended INEC for the successful conclusion of the election exercise from Saturday, November 6 to Tuesday, November 9.
The president further urged the Anambra governor-elect to ensure he works with various key players in the state to tackle the insecurity brewing in the state and southeast in general.
He said:
"I look forward to working with him for the peace, security and development of Anambra State and the entire country."
Soludo Nigeria's second CBN governor to lead a state
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that Soludo, a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) was declared the winner of the November 6, Anambra governorship election.
Soludo's victory came after he won most of the local government areas in the state dusting his fellow contenders from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC) among others.
The 61-year old professor in the economics discipline is also the second governor of CBN to have been elected governor of a state in Nigeria.
First was Dr Clement Isong who served as a governor of Cross Rivers state after his tenure as the governor of CBN.
During the election, Soludo polled 112,229 votes as the winner of the election against Valentine Ozigbo of PDP, Andy Uba of APC, Ifeanyi Ubah of YPP among others.
The INEC's returning officer for the Anambra election, Florence Obi, made the declaration at the collation centre in Awka.
