Deaths, Terror as Gunmen Unleash House-to-house Raid in Northern State

Batsari, Katsina - A series of deadly attacks that led to the death of persons and destruction of properties was launched by some gunmen on the Batsari local government area of Katsina.

Daily Trust reports that the house-to-house raid on at least five communities in the area started in the evening of Tuesday, November 9, and stretched till the early hours of Wednesday, November 10.

Eyewitnesses disclosed that many houses, public assets, including vehicles, were torched in the attack.

A lawmaker representing Batsari in the state's House of Assembly, Hon. Jabir Yauyau, confirmed the threatening development but admitted that he does not have details of what transpired due to lack of telecommunication network in the area.

Yauyau said:

“It is confirmed that the attack took place, but the casualties and the extent of damage caused is not yet known, especially because of the lack of mobile network in the area.
“I am told about the majority of those killed. They are people I know personally, but I still need to confirm.
“I am trying to ascertain what actually happened because I am going to move a motion on matters of public importance in the house, but I have to get the actual thing.”

Meanwhile, unknown gunmen have struck again in Katsina state, this time, killing no fewer than six people on Sunday, October 23, in Unguwar Samanja village, Faskari local government area.

During the attack, several other people were abducted when the bandits arrived at the village at 5:49 p.m.

A resident of Daudawa identified as Nasir Hassan said the attackers rode into the village on motorcycles shooting sporadically minutes before residents were preparing for the dawn prayer.

Hassan, a student in Zamfara state, revealed that five people who died after the attack were buried on Monday, October 25.
