Obiano, Soludo Rigged Anambra Guber? APC Governor Opens Up

• There are viral claims that the Anambra governorship election was rigged by the incumbent governor, Willie Obiano
• In fact, the claims indicted the governor-elect, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of the ruling party, APGA
• But the reports attributed to Governor Dave Umahi have been debunked by his media aide, Nwaze Francis

Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi has reacted to claims attributed to him that the sitting governor of Anambra, Willie Obiano, and the governor-elect, Charles Chukwuma Soludo, rigged the gubernatorial poll in the state.

The viral reports claimed that Governor Umahi rejected the results of the election declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), The Nation reports.

However, dismissing the report, the governor's media aide, Nwaze Francis, made it known that neither the state government nor his principal has even commented on the election.

Nwaze categorically stated that the governor did not at any point make any such remark, adding that it would be wrong for him to speak on behalf of the All Progressives Congress (APC)'s candidate in the said poll.

The governor's aide said:

“Going by the foregoing, we hereby urge the general public to disregard the post as it has no iota of truth in it.

“We also like to use this medium to remind the poster and other Social Media purveyors of fake news that the State Law on fake news is very much in place to deal with potential recalcitrant."

Anambra governorship election: Trouble As APC rejects result, threatens INEC

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra had called for the cancellation of the governorship election in the state.

In a statement released on Sunday night, November 7, in Awka, the state chairman of the party, Basil Ejidike, accused Obiano and Soludo of rigging the election.

He stated:

“What is happening in Anambra is never an election but big time electoral fraud and malpractice."

According to the state chairman, the party will not accept the outcome of the election. Ejidike said the APC won in all the local government, but Obiano and Soludo conspired with some corrupt INEC officers to overturn the whole process in favour of APGA.
