Just in: Anambra Governorship Candidate Votes for Soludo, Gives Reason

Ihiala - The governorship candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) Akachukwu Nwankpo has thrown weight behind his rival, Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Daily Trust reports that Nwankpo on Tuesday, November 9, voted for the former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor during the ongoing supplementary election in Ihiala LGA of Anambra state.

The ADC candidate who made the disclisure after casting his vote at Umuapani ward, polling unit 004, said he took the decision because his party has no chance of winning after the election on Saturday, November 6.

In another report by Nigerian Tribune, Nwankpo, revealed that his choice to vote for Soludo was personal. He added that it was to enable him key into the achievement of the APGA led- government of Governor Willie Obiano.

According to him, APGA has 90% chances of winning the election, to avoid wasting more resources.

Anambra governorship election: INEC adjusts voting timeline for Ihiala

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that following the suspension of collation of results in respect of the 2021 Anambra state governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the electoral body made a slight adjustment to the commencement and closing time for the exercise.

INEC had announced on Saturday, November 7 through the state collation/returning officer, Professor Florence Obi, the decision of the commission to hold election in Ihiala local government area on Tuesday, November 9.

Accordingly, polling in respect of the supplementary election for Ihiala local government area will commence at 10 am and end at 4. pm.

Battle's not yet over: PDP's Ozigbo reveals how he can still win Anambra gov election

Meanwhile, Valentine Ozigbo, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the Anambra governorship election expressed optimism that he can still emerge victorious.

Soludo has the highest votes so far (103,946 votes), winning in 18 of the 20 LGAs where results have been announced.

Although Ozigbo secured the second highest votes (51,322) in the election, he won only one of the 20 LGAs.

The margin between Soludo and Ozigbo currently stands at 52,624. Nevertheless, addressing newsmen on Monday, November 8, Ozigbo said the election battle is not yet over.
