FCT, Abuja - Jacob Ajao Adejumo, a member of the House of Representatives from Oyo state, has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila, read his defection letter to members on the floor in Abuja on Tuesday, November 9, during the plenary.

Former northern governor speaks on defecting from APC to PDP ahead of 2023

Meanwhile, Alhaji Abdul’aziz Yari, a former governor of Zamfara state, has said he has no plans to dump the APC for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or any other political party.

Yari's former chief of staff, Abdullahi Abdulkarim-Tsafe, in a statement in Gusau, said the social media posts on the former governor’s purported plan to defect to the PDP are a hoax.

He said:

“To our concerned party members, friends, associates and the general public, our attention has been drawn to the false news being circulated over social media and some print media by some unscrupulous and under-baked attention-seeking moronic elements.

“For the records, there has never been a time that the former Governor of Zamfara, Abdul’aziz Yari ever had anything to do with the PDP.

Former Kano governor speaks on defecting from PDP to APC

In a related development, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano state, has spoken on the possibility of defecting to the APC ahead of 2023.

Appearing as a guest on Arise News TV on Friday, October, the former governor was asked if he will consider returning to the APC amid the crisis rocking the PDP.

Responding, Kwankwaso said:

“I am still a member of the PDP."
