APC calls for cancellation of Anambra governorship election, alleges rigging

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra has called for the cancellation of the yet-to-be-concluded governorship election in the state.

In a statement released on Sunday night, November 7, in Awka, the state chairman of the party, Basil Ejidike, accused the incumbent Governor Willie Obiano and the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Charles Soludo, of rigging the election.

According to the state chairman, the party will not accept the outcome of the election. Ejidike said the APC won in all the local government, but Obiano and Soludo conspired with some corrupt Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officers to overturn the whole process in favour of APGA.

Legit.ng also reported that Soludo made his first comment as INEC continued to announce the results. He shared a photo of him monitoring the results on his Instagram page on Sunday evening, November 7.

The collation officers for two local government areas (Ihiala and Orumba North) said elections did not hold in their LGAs.

The governorship election in the area has now been scheduled to hold Saturday, November 13, as a result of alleged irregularities recorded in the LGA.
