"This morning, we witnessed a last minute attempt to besmirch the candidature of Senator Uba using People’s Gazette, a platform reputed to engage in spurious blackmail.
"This medium yesterday announced that Senator Uba had participated in the Dasuki arms purchase scandal through one of the senator's outfits but had been given a reprieve by President Muhammadu Buhari.
"Such stories are false in all ramifications. It is obvious that People’s Gazette in its desire to please those who sponsored such bizarre story forgot to do a thorough job on the story."
"Otherwise it would have known that as at the height of the arms purchase scandal, Senator Andy Uba was still a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
"How then could he be in the opposition and still be Buhari's major enforcer should baffle any intelligent mind.

"Sadly this is what happens when we have charlatans masquerade as journalists."

He noted that Senator Uba or other names mentioned in the news story had nothing to do with monies meant for arms purchase

Arinze added:

"What is, however, obvious is that the opposition will spare no expense to destroy the character of the next governor of Anambra state.
"They are aware that they have lost the elections in advance, they only intend to discredit the incoming governor but their efforts will definitely come to naught."
