Anambra Election: To Avoid Compromise of its Data Base, INEC Releases Key Details Ahead of Poll

Awka - The Independent National Election Commission (INEC) has released key details concerning the forthcoming governorship election.

The details contained in a document and seen by a Legit.ng reporter in Awka, ranges from data about polling units in different areas of the state and the candidates contesting for election.

According to INEC, in Anambra north senatorial district, there will be 1,820 polling units to cater for 846,994 registered voters.

In Anambra central senatorial district, there will be 3,987 polling units to cater for 887,295 registered voters.

In Anambra South senatorial district, there will be 1,934 polling units to cater for 794,203 voters.

The breakdown of the polling units in various local governments shows that Idemili north local government area has the highest number of polling units with 161, while Nnewi south local government has the lowest with just 2.

Nnewi north will have 120, Aguata will have 42, Orumba south 16, Anaocha 10, Ihiala 44, Anyamelum 18, Njokoka 30, Oyi 41,Dunukofia 19, Anambra West 6, Anambra east 41 and Idemili south 43.

Others are Onitsha south 121, Onitsha north 112, Ogbaru 90, Ekwusigo 18, Orumba north 22, Awka south 135 and Awka north 20.

Meanwhile, INEC has reiterated that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) will be used for the Anambra state governorship election.

According to INEC, the accreditation process for the Anambra governorship election shall comprise the verification and authentication of voters using the BVAS for cross-checking the voters’ names in the register of voters as well as authenticating the voters using their fingerprints or facials.

INEC begins distribution of sensitive materials to 21 LGAs in Anambra

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that INEC commenced the distribution of sensitive materials for Saturday, November 6 governorship election in Anambra.

The electoral umpire commenced the distribution to the 21 local government areas of the state, Legit.ng can report.

The INEC team were on the premises of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) distributing the materials to the LGAs.

Anambra election: Voters storm INEC office to pick up PVCs, photos emerge

Meanwhile, prospective voters in a last-minute rush to get their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) converged at INEC office ahead of the Anambra state governorship election.

Residents on Wednesday, November 3, lined up at the commission's office in Dunukofia local government area of the state to pick up their PVCs.

This was made known by the national electoral commission via a post shared on its official Facebook page.
