Anambra Polls: Southeast Governors Speak, Tells Residents What To Do During Elections
- Anambra residents have been called on to go ou on Saturday, November 6, to cast their votes for their preferred governor
- The advice was given to the residents by the state governors of the southeast led by Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state
- The governors also said that they were in talks with the spokesperson of the group to ensure a free, fair and non-violent election on Saturday
Governors of the southeast region have called on the people of Anambra state to come out en masse on Saturday, November 6, to vote their preferred candidates in the state's governorship election.
The governors in a statement signed by the chairman of the South East Governors' Forum, David Umahi, also commended the federal government and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for their determination to conduct the Anambra state election.

Umahi who is the governor of Ebonyi state said the governors will provide all the needed support to ensure that the Saturday, November 6, election in Anambra state is free, fair and non-violent.

He said:
"We, therefore, ask our people to go out and vote for candidates of their choice as we have been assured of adequate security measures to secure their lives and properties."
Southeast governors' reaction to IPOB's sit-at-home order
Further reacting to the sit-at-home order given by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a pro-Biafra group led by Nnamdi Kanu, Umahi said mediations are ongoing to ensure a smooth election exercise.
He said
"We are confident that through our mediation, that of religious leaders, Ohaneze Ndigbo and traditional rulers, IPOB will see reasons to call off all sit-at-home orders including the recent one of 5th to 10th November 2021."
"We as southeast governors are committed to political solutions over the present situation in South East and this will be achieved faster if all the illegal sit-at-home orders and violence by the various state agitators are stopped in southeast."
The governors further wished the people of Anambra a peaceful and successful outing at the polls on November 6.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe had urged the people of the state to ensure they exercise their voting rights.
Abaribe said that when people fail to vote, they give others the opportunity to elect their preferred leaders into the political sphere.
He also said that the southeast has suffered a lot due to politics and bad governance as seen in the number and conditions of bad roads in the region.
