88th Post-humous Birthday: Soludo Pays Glowing Tribute to Ojukwu

Awka - Professor Chukwuma Soludo, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has paid special tribute to the Late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.

Soludo paid the tributes to honour the memory of Ojukwu and to celebrate his 88th post-humous birthday.

Ojukwu, who served as the military governor of the Eastern Region of Nigeria in 1966 and the leader of the breakaway Republic of Biafra from 1967 to 1970 was the founder of APGA.

“Eze Igbo was a brave and courageous leader who was wholly committed to the course and survival of the Igbo nation.
“It is heart-warming and symbolic that Ojukwu's post-humous birthday is being celebrated on the day of the official end of campaign for the Anambra governorship election and more fundamentally, the day the peace accord was equally signed by the gubernatorial candidates, subscribing to peace and violent-free election in the Anambra governorship election billed to hold in the next 48 hours.

Anambra guber candidates sign peace accord

Legit.ng had earlier reported that a peace accord was signed by Soludo and other guber candidates on Thursday, November 4 at the Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre in Awka, the Anambra state capital.

The initiative was put together by the National Peace Committee headed by former Nigerian Military President, General Abdusalami Abubakar (rtd).

All candidates in the election, General Abubakar and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) national chairman, Prof Yakubu Mahmood, signed the document.

Police restrict movement in Anambra ahead of the election

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police Force has ordered the restriction of vehicular movement in and out of Anambra state from 11:59 PM on Friday, November 5 to 11:59 PM on Saturday, November 6.

The police spokesman, CP Frank Mba announced the security measure at a press briefing in Awka attended by a Legit.ng reporter.

Mba said the order was given by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, as part of measures to protect the sanctity of the electoral process.
