3. The PDP family in Anambra is united
Despite the pockets of opposition within the party in the weeks leading up to its controversial primaries, the PDP in Anambra state seems to be united considering the number of big wigs of the party who attended the grand rally. Elder statesmen like Senator Ben Obi and Professor ABC Nwosu were on hand to offer their support to the party's candidate ahead of the election.
4. Ndi Anambra are yearning for a new kid on the block
Ozigbo's selling point is that he is a new kid on the block in Anambra politics. Also, he has no baggage, unlike his fellow contestants. A new face in Anambra politics is strange and it seems the people are enjoying the breath of fresh air. Most of the people in the arena spoken to by Legit.ng, kept emphasizing the fact that Ozigbo is not one of the regular politicians they are used to.
Like Peter Obi, Like Valentine Ozigbo
Ozigbo has said he is in the race to make Anambra better again, like when Peter Obi presided over the state.
He made the declaration while addressing thousands of his enthusiastic supporters at the arena.
He said the current government of Willie Obiano in Anambra has taken the state backward since Obi, a former vice presidential candidate of the PDP left power.
Okowa canvasses support for Ozigbo at Awka rally
Legit.ng had earlier reported that at the rally, Delta state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, called on the people of Anambra to close ranks and take back the state in line with the PDP "rescue mission" for the country.
Okowa, who is deputy chairman of the PDP national campaign council for the Anambra governorship election, gave the charge at the packed arena.
He said that the gubernatorial poll was special for the youths of Anambra and urged them to come out in their numbers to vote for Ozigbo.
