Anambra Governorship Election: Andy Uba Was a Domestic Staff for Obasanjo, Says Soludo

  • The Anambra governorship debate on Monday, November 1 had flashes of heated sessions while it lasted
  • The duo of Professor Chukwuma Soludo and Senator Andy Uba most times went head-to-head during the debate
  • Soludo dropped some rather uncomplimentary remarks about Uba during the debate with reference to his past

Awka - Professor Chukwuma Soludo, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), on Monday, November 1 claimed that Senator Andy Uba, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was a domestic staff to former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Apart from being a two-term senator who represented Anambra South Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate, Uba served as the special assistant to domestic affairs to Ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo from 1999 to 2007.

Irked by the comments, Uba issued a rebuttal, claiming he recommended Soludo to Obasanjo as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, a position the APGA candidate held from 2004 to 2009.

Soludo had claimed that Senator Uba did not do anything meaningful for his people when he was a senator.

He also claimed that the APC candidate forged his senior secondary school certificate which was presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He said:

“You don’t have a certificate. You forged it. I will show you here (showing Uba his phone). Do you have a secondary school certificate?
“When did you graduate? You have a secondary certificate in 1974? You had SSCE in Enugu? It is a forgery! Your history is here. I can show it to you from INEC.”

Responding to Uba’s comment on the CBN job, Soludo said the APC candidate was not instrumental to his emergence as CBN governor, saying:

“I know Andy was a masseur in the US. He was a domestic staff in the villa, who cleans the president’s shoes, but, if throwing up my name gives Andy Uba a CV, then I will concede that too.”

Agitations: Anambra guber candidates ask FG to dialogue with IPOB

Legit.ng had earlier reported that the three major governorship candidates in the forthcoming Anambra governorship election restrained from condemning the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) during the debate.

Instead, the candidates called for dialogue between the federal government and the proscribed group.

The candidates made their stance known when they were specifically asked about their opinion on IPOB.

Ozigbo earlier called for the release of Nnamdi Kanu

Recall that the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Valentine Ozigbo recently called for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of IPOB from detention.
