Anambra 2021: 4 Times Andy Uba Has Proven His Winning Streak
Senator Andy Uba, the All progressives Congress (APC)'s candidate in the forthcoming Anambra governorship election, no doubt, has a winning streak that might just play out in the Saturday, November 6, poll.
On more than one occasion, the prominent federal lawmaker has proven that he has the Midas touch when it comes to getting the electorate on his side.
This piece outlines three times, starting from 2007, when Uba floored his opponents at stiffly contested polls.
1. 2007 Anambra guber
While in the PDP, Uba won the Anambra governorship election in 2007 after which he was inaugurated as governor in the state.

However, by a controversial Supreme Court verdict, Uba's election victory was voided while Peter Obi was returned to office.
2. 2011 Anambra South Senatorial election
Uba went ahead to contest in the 2011 Anambra South senatorial election and defeated his opponent, Chukwmaeze Nzeribe of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
But the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were rejected by the Court of Appeal following allegations of rigging, manipulation of figures, and certificate forgery.
3. 2012 senatorial rerun election
The decision of the appellate court was that INEC should conduct another election. A rerun election took place and like in other times, the invincible Uba emerged victoriously.
4. 2015 Senatorial poll
In 2015, the Anambra state election petition tribunal in Awka upheld the election of Senator Uba in the South Senatorial zone.
A petition earlier filed by APGA's candidate at the time, Chief Emeka Ojukwu jr, was dismissed on the basis that it lacked merit.
Anambra election: APC candidate Andy Uba escapes death from police accidental discharge
Meanwhile, it was gathered that Uba escaped death by a whisker after an accidental discharge by a policeman missed him by a hair’s breadth.
Uba was addressing a rally at the Ekwulobia Township Stadium in the Aguata local government area of the state on Friday, September 3, when the incident happened.
Legit.ng reported that the gunshot which was just about a foot off the position of Uba shocked the crowd who turned out to receive the governorship candidate.
