Medical doctor turn politician, Dr Godwin Maduka, emerged as candidate of the Accord Party (AP) for the November 6 governorship election in Anambra state.

The accord party flabgearer was unveiled as the gubernatorial candidate for the party by Anambra chairman in the state, Chief Bartholomew Igwedibia.

Maduka would be running alongside Ken Obi, as his deputy in the highly contested election. He has been described as a politician with impeccable character and capacitiy to develop Anambra to an enviable height.

1. Medical doctor

The AP governorshp candidate is a US based medical practitioner and the founder of Las Vegas Pain Institute and Medical Center, the largest pain treatment center in Nevada.

2. Former governorship candidate

Maduka, was a former gubernatorial aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He wanted to contest under the PDP platform previously until he jumped ship and joined Accord Party.

3. Most educated governorship candidate

Among all the candidates jostling to govern Anambra state, the AP flagbearer is well educated. He is a triple professor and PhD holder.

He is currently an adjunct professor at Touro University School of Osteopathic Medicine.

4. Humanitarian

Maduka, is reputed for his huge humanitarian works which span across providing medical and educational support to the less-privileged across the local government areas of the state.

5. Family

The Umuchukwu born businessman is married to Stella Maduka and they have 5 children.

Tthe chairman of information and voter education committee for INEC, Festus Okoye, said the cost of conducting the Anambra election is more than that of Edo and Ondo states.

Okoye said the cost of materials and rehabilitation of the burnt INEC office in Anambra is a major contributor to the high difference in expenses.

According to Okoye, these 'unusual circumstances' have added up to the high cost of conducting the election in Anambra.
