2023 Presidency: You Can’t Use Religion To Divide Us, Yoruba Muslims, Christians Blast MURIC
- Muslims and Christian alike have called out Prof. Ishaq Akintola over his recent statement on 2023 presidential election
- According to the two groups, the MURIC director is actively seeking for ways to distabilise the unity in the southwest
- Recall that MURIC had recently released a list of Yoruba Muslims that should be the next Nigerian president
Following the latest antics to fuel disunity among Christians and Muslims of Yoruba extraction ahead of the 2023 presidential election by Prof. Ishaq Akintola, many south westerners have blasted him for his actions.
Akintola who is the director of Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) had released a list of Yoruba Muslims that should be the next Nigerian president.
This however did not go well with most Yoruba people - Christians and Muslims alike. They see this as an agenda to bring about disunity among them.
In his reaction, Richard Akinnola, a veteran journalist and writer said Akintola is not helping the cases of those he listed because Yoruba Muslims are not interested in what he has to say.

He said:
"If this Gumi of South West, Ishaq Akintola of MURIC who purports to be speaking for Muslims, believes he is speaking on behalf of South West Muslims, he should go and read the reactions of many Muslims over his incendiary political statement he issued today.
"He was taken to the cleaners by many Muslims. Unknown to him, he was demarketing the names he mentioned in that press statement. I’m surprised he didn’t mention his name as a potential presidential material. Iranu."
Alabi Quadri Adetunji wrote:
"He is not speaking on behalf of South West Muslims but, on behalf of MURIC. Is only League of Imams and Alfa in South West, Edo and Delta States that can speak on our behalf."
Lanre Osinubi added:
"I've always said, this man should bring out the the registers containing the membership of Muric Organisation, because to me he seems like he's just a one-man gang organisation."
Victor Uche
"I have followed that man for decades. He is shallow and a wingless extremist scouting for cheap popularity at all cost. Thank God, the South West are so enlightened to be swerved by a gullible , evil and hypocritical numbskull."
