No Plan to Witch-Hunt Aspirants, Ambition, Seyi Makinde to PDP Members

The governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde has denied claims by factions that there are plans by the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to witch-hunt candidates ahead of the scheduled party's national convention.

Tribune reports that Makinde said the PDP national working committee means well for every member of the party when it fixed the national convention for October 30 and 31.

Makinde who is also the national secretary of the PDP national convention organising committee (NCOC) said some individuals are out to wreck to party's convention.

He said it has never been the committee's intention to truncate anyone's ambition.

PDP's plan to rescue Nigeria

In a statement released on Sunday, October 24, Makinde noted that some members of the PDP had approached a Kaduna High Court with an attempt to scuttle the scheduled convention.

He urged party members to remain focused and shun activities that could divide members of the PDP.

He also called for unity in ensuring the PDP's plan to rescue Nigeria is achieved in the forthcoming 2023 general election.

Major forces at work, fighting against PDP's unity

According to Makinde, a united PDP is a threat the forces littered around to destroy the party.

Makinde said:

“We are aware that a clearly united PDP is a threat to the forces that seek to divide us.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported Makinde has reacted to reports of his possible defection from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The governor said he has no plans to defect to the APC as widely reported in many political quarters.

He also noted that he is not interested in running for the position of presidency in the 2023 general election.

In other news, the chairmanship candidate for the PDP in Kataf local government area of Kaduna state, Francis Zimbo, was declared the winner of the state's LG election.

Zimbo was declared the winner by the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission at the conclusion of the election held on Saturday, October 23.
