Anambra 2021: PDP Gets Major Boost as Labour Party Moves to Adopt Ozigbo as Candidate

Abuja - Ahead of the November 6 governorship election in Anambra state, Labour Party (LP) is engaged in serious alliance discussions with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The Nation reports that if talks are successful this will lead to an alliance with PDP's candidate as the party would direct its members and workers to vote for Chief Valentine Ozigbo.
The national leadership of LP summoned an Emergency National Working Committee Meeting (NWC) for Saturday, October 23, to fine-tune the political process.
Comrade Joseph Ndirang, the acting national secretary of LP made the disclosure in a statement on Friday, October 22, in Abuja.

Ndirang said the meeting was summoned by the chairman of the Labour Political Commission (BOT) Comrade Najeem Yasin to analyse the move of adopting of Ozigbo for the election, The Sun added.
According to the LP acting national secretary, the alliance became necessary in light of the party's chances in the election.
He went on to add that the unfortunate incident surrounding their candidate also made their chances bleak.

Earlier, the Supreme Court has made a final decision on the candidacy for the PDP. The apex court in its decision on Thursday, October 21, declared Ozigbo as the authentic PDP candidate for the governorship election.

The panel of judges led by Justice Inyang Okoro dismissed all the challenges and applications to Ozigbo and awarded N5 million as damages against Senator Ugochukwu Uba, a former lawmaker of the Nigerian Senate.
The court in its decision affirmed the September 3, judgement of the Appeal Court, Awka Division in Anambra state.

A former governor of Anambra state and the vice president aspirant of the PDP, Peter Obi, has described Ozigbo, the party's governorship candidate in the forthcoming Anambra election as the most qualified.
Obi said described Ozigbo as the best candidate vying for the number one seat in the state.
Speaking at a meeting with the Coalition of Non-Anambra Indigenes living in the state, Obi said Ozigbo will revive the dilapidated roads and other infrastructures in the state.
