A TBT clip of a Kakamega man, Antony Wekesa, demanding 22 kids from a 30-year-old wife, Gentrix Wekesa, has gone viral.
Gentrix, the wife, lamented in an interview with TV 47, disclosing that she was three months pregnant and was the sole breadwinner of the family.
The 30-year-old woman was expecting her 11th child with her husband, Antony, who was already a father of 20.
"Right now, I'm three months pregnant, and my lastborn child is only one year old. One of my kids dropped out of school when he was in class seven. They used to send him home for school fees and his uniform, and we got tired. I did not know what to do. My secondborn became a herdsman. Other times when they pay him, he gives me the cash, and I feel nice."
Why Kakamega man wants wife to have 22 kids
Jentrix's husband noted that he did not want her to opt for modern family planning methods.
"I have 20 kids. We don't want our wives to plan for kids. We want them to add more kids. When you don't have kids, they laught at it. As long as she gets to the number I want, 22."
The 30-year-old recalled a time when she went for modern family planning, and her husband made sure he took her to the hospital to get it out.
"I just decided to then give birth the way he wants. He says that as longs as the kids turn out differently it would be good. One can become a teacher, another a robber that is their thinking."
The woman said she hoped that one day she could be free from the shackles of giving birth. The video has gone viral on TikTok and the X app, formerly known as Twitter.
