Man Files for Divorce After Discovering Wife Has 3 Kids From Past Relationships, Not 1 As He Was Told
- The marriage of two lovers who tied the knot 10 years ago has hit the rocks after the husband discovered his wife had been hiding a top secret
- James Banda filed for divorce after discovering that his wife lied that she only had one child from the past, only for her to reveal later that they are three
- James, 30, told the court that he accepted 29-year-old Barbara with her child because he too, was a father of one
A 30-year-old husband from Kitwe, Zambia, has taken legal action against his wife for what he terms as deceit.
The man named James Banda is said to have married his 29-year-old wife Barbara, a fellow member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, in 2013.
Marriage hits the rock after two years
According to Mwebantu, the couple embarked on what seemed like a harmonious marital journey that would hit the rocks just after two years.
Trouble started when Barbara finally mustered the courage to open up to her husband regarding her well-guarded secret.
She informed him that she actually has three children from past relationships, not just the one she had previously claimed.
“When we were about to get married she told me she had one child and I accepted because I also had one. Two years later she said she had three children and this came as a surprise to me,” an angry James said.
James married another woman
James told the court that he was disappointed and wanted to leave the marriage because it was built on lies.
He added that he was not only annoyed at his wife and his family for lying to him but was also not able to provide for the three children.

While defending herself, Barbara told the court that she did not want a divorce even though her husband already went ahead and married a second wife.
She disclosed that for the last few years, the two have been on separation, a period within which her husband married another woman.
The estranged wife apologised for her actions and begged her husband for forgiveness, adding that she was ready to be in a polygamous marriage because she still loved him.
“I asked for forgiveness from my husband after telling him and he forgave me but his family started forcing him to divorce me because of the past mistake,” she revealed.
With Barbara’s testimony, the court refused to grant the couple divorce papers because doing so would be against the wife's will.
James and Barbara were ordered to only come back to court after agreeing on the same thing.
