This makes Uganda one of the more accessible African destinations for Emirati travellers, as the visa-free access is not restricted to leisure visits alone.
For those who need to remain in the country beyond the three-month window, Ugandan authorities require that they apply for a residence permit covering the additional period they intend to stay.
Uganda's Place in Africa's Visa Landscape
The move places Uganda among a number of African nations that have been revising their entry requirements in recent years to attract visitors and investors from Gulf states.
The UAE, home to a highly mobile population of nationals and residents who frequently travel for business and leisure, represents a significant source of potential visitors for East African destinations.
Uganda, known for its biodiversity, including mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and the source of the River Nile in Jinja, has been working to grow its tourism sector.
Easing entry for UAE passport holders across all travel purposes, including work and study, signals a broader interest in deepening ties between the two countries beyond tourism alone.
